The Babies' First Cell Phones

The girls begged and pleaded for cell phones, and we finally gave in. Yummy!

Sleeping habits

So we have one reverent baby who folds her arms in her sleep.
And another one who chews on her crib railings. Check out the marks on Charlotte's left crib railing. There are chew marks on the front railing and the other side too. I guess her crib must be extra delicious.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

It's our anniversary today. We got married 7 years ago. Can you believe it? I can't. I was trying to come up with a sincere and heartfelt post about our marriage, but I just don't have it in me today. I just kept coming up with silly comments about causing all of Jared's gray hairs. Sometimes I can be serious and sometimes I can't. So here's some pictures of the girls we took at the park the other day instead. These sun hats just crack me up.

Even though they remind us of a bad 80s movie, these hats are pretty adorable.

Cutest Babies Ever

Ok, so I don't always act like a doting mom. For example, today Katie crawled into an empty plastic storage container, and I turned it over so she was trapped inside. Then I laughed at her attempts to get out. It's true. I'm mean. What's really funny is that Jared told Katie not to crawl in there because I would turn it over on her, and that's exactly what I was planning to do when she got close enough. I guess he has learned something over the course of our marriage.

Anyway, although I might not always be nice, I do think the girls are the cutest babies on the face of the planet. I mean look at this picture. They fell asleep while we were on a walk around the neighborhood.
Everybody with me now. Awwww... So cute.

This is a picture of Katie sleeping with the bear my mom gave her for Valentine's Day. Hi Mom. If you ever figure out how to bring this up on your computer, you'll be able to see that Katie loves your present.
Here is Charlotte sleeping in her patented "woe is me" pose. She also does this when she's eating a bottle and sometimes when she gets upset.

This picture doesn't really fit in with the whole sleeping babies thing, but it is too cute not to include. Here they are getting ready to eat. Charlotte is particularly happy to be eating soon.
See what I mean? All you other moms will just have to accept it gracefully. These are the cutest babies ever.

Housework

This is a video I took this morning. I have to say that Jared is a huge help around the house, and I just thought it was funny. The video is in no way a passive-aggressive comment on his willingness to do housework. Although, I admit it would be like me to do that.

The Beacon at Alexandria

Hi everybody. Book review time. You know you're excited; you're just holding it in. Ok, enough chit chat. On to the review. The Beacon at Alexandria by Gillian Bradshaw is set during the last few years of the Roman empire. It tells the story of an upper-class Roman girl who runs away from an arranged marriage. The husband-to-be is a cruel man, and she hates and fears him. (Of course, he has to be cruel or she wouldn't have to run away, right?) Anyway, she is able to disappear with the help of her brother, who also hates the prospective groom, and her nursemaid. Since she has always been interested in science and medicine, she disguises herself as a man and goes to the medical school in Alexandria, which is in modern-day Egypt. The story follows her through her adventures in medical school and then as a military doctor on the frontier of the Roman empire.

I don't know if a girl could really get away with something like that during that time or if her brother would go along with it, but what the heck. The book is a pretty good read, and I enjoyed it.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun

I mentioned that Jared went to Atlanta in my last post. Well, the girls had lots of fun while he was gone. This is what they did.

They played fetch.

They watched a Baby Einstein video while in their swings. Ok, they did this more than once. They might have done this more like twice a day, but who's counting.

Katie decided to put a blanket over her head and crawl around the baby cage while Charlotte looked on. I was in the office and heard them giggling like crazy. Then I heard Katie start crying. This is what I saw when I came to check on them.

Finally, Katie learned how to pull herself up to standing, and Charlotte did a lot of relaxing in her activity center thing.

As much fun as they had all week with just boring mom, they were thrilled to have their dad back. Or maybe I was the one who was thrilled. All I know is they spent a lot of quality time with their dad last weekend while I did pretty much nothing. Now THAT was fun.
